Hello,
I recently had to replace a failed turbo in my step-daughters car. After getting everything reassembled, the low oil pressure light initially flickers then comes on solid after a few minutes. I shut the vehicle off and restart it and the low oil pressure light comes back on after about 40 seconds. My guess is this is what led to the failed turbo in the first place.
In reading other forum posts, I attempted the glove test. I had strange results though... the glove neither inflates or comes under suction but rather pulsates between pressure and suction with every engine stroke. I replicated this on both the dip stick and oil fill cap.
My guess is that the PCV system needs replacement, but are there other items that I should be looking at as well?

A failed PCV system will not cause low oil pressure.
Before going further, it may be a good idea to check the oil pressure with a real gauge and not rely on the
instrument cluster light. It'd be a shame to spend money on a PCV refurbishment only to find out that you
have a bad oil pump - or worse.

Thanks for your reply Alschnertz.
I also should have mentioned that I accidentally put in 5w20 oil as every other car I have used that but I will be putting in 10w30 shortly... Not sure if the viscosity difference would make that much difference.

Probably not what you want to hear, but it's doubtful that that difference in viscosity will change things.
Sorry.
Sorry.

Should I pull the pressure sensor and use that as a tap for a mechanical gauge or is there a better method?
Also, I know that the oil sump draw tube can get clogged and cause low oil pressure issues. I have read that pulling the oils pan is a real pain though. What are some other items should I investigate? I can get a compression checker if needed.
I made it about 3 miles the first time I drove it before the low pressure light came on... car has no other detectable issues & power seems good.
