Open the plastic box with the engine control unit. If you can get part numbers without pulling the units out, post the numbers here.

As discussed on page 1 of this thread, the ECU is a 0 261 203 165 which is Motronic 4.3.

Lots of these ECUs available on eBay, from 95 850s.

0 261 203 165 is Metronics 4.3.

Look at the stickers inside the doors, get the manufacture date.

The engine type is also stamped on the engine block. Read it and see if it matches the B5254S label on the timing belt cover or if it reads B5254FS.

While we are reviewing everything, recall that the under-hood emissions sticker has already been posted, and it says model year 1995 and B5254S, matching the timing cover.

I thought we were pretty sure there was an engine swap on Shihabs chariot? Has anyone ever updated an emissions sticker on an engine swap in recorded history?

Here's my summary so far: Much book info has been cited that doesn't fit with the car (hence the swap argument), and some of that book info is obviously wrong which makes me take it with a grain of salt, but the car fits perfectly with http://new.volvocars.com/ownersdocs/199 ... n1995.html which to my knowledge has never failed for US cars in all the years I have been pointing people there.

The one bit of info that argues well for a swapped engine is the engine serial number, which is higher than that on misha's car. That had me wondering too but perhaps it is just a market thing (Europe vs. US). Otherwise, everything posted by Shihab indicates it is just another factory NA, that still makes the most sense.

And might I chime in that my '96 T5 does NOT have chipped keys, which is also apparently "EVERY" Volvo from '96 onwards.

@FLXC90 - isn't it the other way around? I usually have to say my '96 is a '97 when shopping parts for it on US stores (ipdusa.com, for example), as saying '96 won't give me the options it actually is. I.e. saying you have a '96 855 T5 isn't possible on ipdusa, for example.
