I got this out solo but having just done this again on a 99, I have no clue how I did that.

Definitely get a helper on this. Even two helpers standing at each door, with center person guiding it out , clearing wires, is not too many.

Oring Evaporator warm side 988840 2 on line this line (3 total in system)

Oring on pressostat valve (low pressure) 3537501 Qty 1

Orfice valve - downstream Oring 3537797 Qty 1 - this one comes with a new orifice valve

Orfice Valve upstream 988840 one on valve, comes with new valve (total 3 in system)

Oring for fill valve NLA? Fill valve is 6849305 - maybe comes with Oring

Oring between condensor and hard lines 9883337 qty 3 total in system

Condensor pipe to condensor hard line - NLA

Condensor to condensor pipe/compressor NLA


Oring from condenser pipe to compressor 6847526

Oring to compressor suction pipe 354441

ORing from suction pipe to drier 9888433

Oring from drier to hard line/evap warm side 3545416 2 at this location, 4 in system

PAG oil recharge by component

When replacing component the oil quantities below apply to the new components:
Receiver/Drier 90 cubic cm
(0.095 US qt.)
Evaporator 50 cubic cm
(0.053 US qt.)
Compressor 200 cubic cm
(0.211 US qt.)
Condenser 20 cubic cm
(0.021 US qt.)
Hose 20 cubic cm
(0.021 US qt.)

Retrospective look at this job
OK - decision time. Ive decided Im going to replace all (eight) cooling group hoses since I want another 50k miles out of this car.
Glad I went OEM, 7 years and 120k miles later

:lol: :lol: :lol:

A Dremel is a god send on this job - that would make removing the evap really easy. Just zip through the aluminum as far in as you can reach to avoid the hard steel lines. Out on the bench, you can easily get the last of the aluminum evap line out with the AC tool from the FLAPS
