Hi,

Car: Volvo XC90, 2007, D5

I suddenly got the following problem:
- Driver door won’t open from inside or outside
- Window in driver door won’t open (I can hear some strange sounds when trying)
- When driving yellow warning sign flashes very briefly and text stating that the door is open (is not)

However, I can open door from outside «manually» with the key. Holding the key turned to the left for some time will eventually let me open the door. I can then hear that the lock system is really working inside the door. Also, when the door is fully open, the window works fine.

Any ideas on what the error is and how to fix?

Thanks in advance!

Take off the door card and have a look. Maybe a cable has become loose or detached. Plenty of information on this site on how to take off the door card.

Update:

I opened the rubber «pipe» with cables going into the door close to the upper hinge.

The black thin cable was cut completely off, close to the cable connector. Any idwas on ho to to fix? Do I need to remove the full door?

Bunch of links in there for photos and repair. Black cable in the connector is the common electrical ground.

Problem solved. Replaced the end of the black wire and its small connector going into the bigger «multi-connector».

Volvo dealership wanted to remove the door and a larger operation, but went to a specialised car electronics company and they fixed it very chesø and quick.
