The car is an '04 V70 2.5T with 133K miles. I have had the "ABS" light come on intermittently but it usually goes out and does not stay on persistently. Today while driving to work I had a new error: "Brake failure Stop Safely". The brakes appear to be working fine without issue.
I have read about re-soldering the BCM when I was troubleshooting the ABS errors a while back. Could this be the culprit? If not, what else should I check? The junkyards around here are chuck full of Volvo's so if I knew the interchange (other models/years that the BCM interchanges with) I could also go get another BCM to "play with"... Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Any chance the rear door shows open on the DIM when the door is closed? Any other failure warnings? Our '04 XC70 had the same brake failure warning, engine died on occasion, rear door open. Had scanned and many failure codes. Turned out the CEM had intermittent communication failures. I sent the CEM to XeMODeX and no more issues. Search CEM and see if others experience match your issues.
