Check Crutchfield's site.
There is usually a lot of good information there.

They also sell adapter kits.
I used one on my 854T and it came with instructions that indicated what each color wire was.

Which head unit did you have? I just did my 02 S40, switched from a HU-615. Thanks.

Okay, I know this is a little late, but I figured I'd post here to have the information handy on MVS, and considered Crutchfield seems to be charging for diagrams, here you go. I had to do a bit of searching, and never did find the actual correct diagram for my head unit. I'm pretty sure I referenced multiple unit configurations and came up with this. Please note, this is from a 2002 Volvo S40 1.9T American version with an HU-615 head unit. Others head units could be different.

Order will be: Color:Function
The colors and functions should be right for A, but I think B might be a little different on one of the speaker + and - colors. Just use the process of elimination.
A-Green Connector
Orange:Constant 12V
Brown/White:Accessory 12V
Yellow:Rheostat Illumination (Dimmer)
Big Black:Ground
Small Black:Supposed ground, I hooked it up as a ground but some sources say CAN. I haven't had any issues after using it as a ground.
Small Red:Antenna Remote +
Green:Speed
Red/Black:Possible CEM control module. Tested it and no 12V power came from the car harness when disconnected from radio. I taped this one off

B
Brown:Front Left+
White:Front Left-
Green Yellow:Front Right+
Green:Front Right-
Yellow/Black:Rear Left+
White:Rear Left-
Yellow:Rear Right+
Green/White:Rear Right-

There are 2 whites listed on this connector, though it may be different. From what I recollect, the wires for each corner speaker(s) were paired together on the connector, so you should be able to figure out which white goes to which speaker with that information. Good luck buddy, and I hope you enjoy your new stereo!
