Volvo XC 90 Dash board failure

Post by Dton »

Hi everyone,

I have a 2004 Volvo xc90. I has developed a problem of intermittent dash board failure. What basically happens is that when driving or when packed with ignition on, a clicking sound comes out of the dashboard and eventually the dashboard goes off and all gauges drop. the only light that remains is the check engine light. additionally when this happen the full beam goes on even when the switch is off and cannot be turned off. The gear selector equally does not show what gear I am in. it is a 2004 automatic XC90 T5. any Help please?

Sounds like you have an issue with the CEM or the DIM. It is not uncommon and there are plenty of posts. Read over them and you will be better able to sort your issue.

When this happens do the windows, locks, wipers all function normally?

Trying to figure out if the low speed network is offline or just the cluster and the steering wheel module.

Hi Jimmy,

When this happens all electronically controlled functions stops. These include functions for windows, wiper indicator lights, radio, fuel, temperature and speed gauges drop.
