The car battery or the fob battery?

The key doesn't actually open the trunk on my '01.
All the key does is manually enable or disable the push button latch.
As for why your fob isn't working, maybe it's coincidental. Maybe it'd be worth changing the fob battery.

The key fob works with everything else. I'm assuming maybe the trunk switch or latch isn't working? When I use the fob I can hear the mechanism working just nothing happening.alschnertz wrote: ↑12 Aug 2018, 05:52 The key doesn't actually open the trunk on my '01.

If you can hear the actuator cycling, maybe all that's wrong is a linkage fell off.
And if the actuator is cycling, I'd also think that the problem should be pretty obvious.
Pull the interior panel and have a look. You'll probably have to fold the rear seats and access it that way.
