ECU: Automatic vs Manuel ECU

Post by shaker_chi »

I have a 98 S70 T5 5 speed and would like to dabble with the ecu now that the software for the motronic 4.4 is free. With that, I'm having a hard time finding an ecu with numbers that match mine. Would another ecu from an automatic 98 S70 T5 work or even from an 850? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any motronic 4.4 ECU will work, manual or automatic. Look for a 97 850 GLT (the LPT), any 98 turbo (LPT or HPT).

The 97 and earlier HPT were motronic 4.3.

Thanks Erik. I found one from an automatic s70 T5 on craigslist for $50. Didn't know if it would work or not though.
