98 v70 ac blows weak until I step on the braks, then it bowls nice and strong.

Having problems with em memory holding info for emissions test. Thinking vacuum not operating air injection could be interfering with getting good data. Also possible vacuum proplem, ac weak until brakes applied. When Appling brakes ac cranks up nice and high. Where do I go from here?

That’s a bizarre correlation. Climate systems aren’t vacuum controlled on these cars.

As much detail , down to the timing and performance of the AC will be helpful

Could be the position of the blower motor moving due to a bad bearing...

Your blower motor bushings are dirty. Removing and replacing the motor is easy. Remove the glove box and the kick panel on the passenger side. Check out other threads on this site. Working on the bearing is a PITA. Use 2 long thin screw drivers inserted between the squirrel cage fan and the motor, support them in a vise, then drive the shaft out of the fan. This will give you better access to the bushing. Thoroughly clean with penetrating oil and then re-lubricate with something a bit heavier in viscosity. You might want to pick up a motor at a you pick it auto parts yard.

Ah yes, turn off the AC and report of if the same thing happens with the heater.

If it is just the fan speed that is varying, wcm nailed it above.

It is the bearing failing as wcm says. Time for a new fan motor. Removing it and spraying the bearings with oil may help short term until you get a new fan motor.

Thanks and I've now seen this, as I have opened things up under the dash. Have had to switch to my secondary air problem as the priority (needs to pass smog inspection to transfer title). But will revisit this post with a progress post, if I can get past smog.
