2001 S80 2.9 trunk lights- trouble shooting

I have had this car for a year and decided to replace burned out bulbs in trunk today. Tried original type bulbs and LED replacements. Neither worked. I checked #1 fuse in trunk fuse box and it is good.
I am guessing there is a switch that senses when the trunk is open and that may be the problem. I don't know where that is located or how to test it.

Added: The system does recognize when the lid id open- message on dash..

Any help would be appreciated.
