Hi,
I have a 2001 S80 T6 with 439,000 miles. Replaced original engine at 367k. Issue I have is with the UEM.
When I savaged the donor engine, I also grabbed the rear view mirror dimmed with lever.
My Auto dimmed mirror started looking like a lava lamp, so I decided to remove the auto dimmed one and replace it with the donor mirror. Still unaware it would not work, I continued until I completed the swap, then I realized my sunroof would not work, nor did I have any lights in the upper panel. I unplugged the donor mirror and plugged it back into the auto dimmed mirror and everything started working again. I removed the donor mirror and reinstalled the auto dimmed one and everything worked good for a couple of days.
the third day, drivers window powered down, then 1/2 way back up then quit. In the meantime, I lost a lot of electronics - all guages quit working, the only thing on dash that worked was check engine light. No door locks, mirrors would not adjust. Engine still ran, A/C worked as did radio.
Took it back home and checked all fuses both inside car and underhood. Could not find a bad fuse. Decided to pull battery cables and let car sit for a while - reconnected and all that was dead came to life - for about 20 seconds or so, then all crashed again. I did this several times and each time and one time it ran for about a minute before I shut it off and did a restart - everything was dead again.
Decided to turn ignition on and pull fuses to see if I could figure anything out. When I pulled fuse 28, the tell tale lights in dash lit up. So I cranked engine and the cluster was back to life - power windows worked, door chime worked, but the overhead lights do not work when door is opened, nor does sun roof work. this was a week and a half ago, and still in the same shape. Car runs, I have gauges and window control but still no door locks, overhead lights, or sun roof.
Anybody have any suggestions?
Wife says I ought to park it in a sketchy area and leave the key on the dash. I am not to that point as it still gets me to and from work to the tune of 96 miles each day.
Thank you for reading.........

That is interesting, we already know that the auto dim mirrors have some electronics in them that are coded for each vehicle and are related to the key fob and sunroof.
Maybe read here how someone else did this swap https://forums.swedespeed.com/showthrea ... ual-Mirror
As for the miles, it's worth contacting this site bellow. Don't trash the car as per the other 1/2 saying, if the car is still running well (even thought sometimes it's safer to listen...) maybe just buy a chocolate box, that should help for a while...

I am just throwing this out there, but I recall that the siren module will cause some of the issues you are experiencing. Have you looked into it?
Maybe the schematic master, RickHaleParker, will pull some of his magic.
