Can anyone tell me what this switch is on my radiator? Nothing floating around nearby and Bentley's and google couldn't answer. Thanks in advance!

Electric cooling fan switch. Do you have an electric fan? Those can be in some replacement rads. The original switch was a pop in and those would pop out. Some radiator companies supplied radiators with threaded ones like yours. If the switch was fitted then the radiator had one part number that would fit loads of 4 cylinder Volvos (240, 740, 940, 760, 780) from 1975 through 93 with engine driven fans. They fitted an auxiliary electric fan on 88-91 700's that could be turned on if it got too hot.

Interesting. Yes I got the AC condenser fan from a wreck yard and installed it.(I could tell there had been on installed previously as part of the bottom mount strap was still there/broken off) The plug is in the front of the fan (runs along the bottom of the grille) and everything fit perfectly. Is this switch to tell the fan when to kick on? When temps get high? Thanks for the reply!

On the 93 240 I think the fan was only wired to switch on from an a/c line pressure switch. The rad switch could have one blade connected to ground and the other pin could be wired to splice with the a/c pressure switch grey wire. That wire leads to fan relay.

Okay - That's what I thought I read for this model year. So I'll continue to ignore the switch in the radiator then.
