Car entry remotes
OK, the previous owner gave me two remotes with my new/used V70 I bought this past July. I immediately went out and installed a new watch battery in each. I just assumed that I could now go out to the car and depress the "unlock" button and the car door would unlock. Unfortunately it did not. What am I doing wrong if anything? I thought that those two remotes would be linked to the car, since the owner gave them to me.

Try unlocking and locking the car five Times using the key in the driver door, then try the remote

Ouch!! Seriously?!
I just dropped mine. Plastic lid and battery shot across the parking lot. Found the pieces, snapped it all together, works fine. Although the PO had some key/switch issue and had both keys epoxied straight out so they don’t fold (??)
Another vote for the simple 122!

Just went outside and tried what you told me to do. Unfortunately, it did not work. So what does this mean?
I have to pay a Volvo dealer $400 just for one remote that works? Uggggh, that won't be happening.

Do I need another key like this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Uncut-Tran ... Swv-NWXVkQ
or a new remote:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Replacement- ... 9073!US!-1
Sounds like the only place you can get it programmed is at a dealer.

You can get a key Done cheaply , my indie charges $40. It has to be married to the car, not just cut
To get the key fob costs a lot more , it also has to be married to the car

abscate, so are you saying that your Indie cuts the key and also marries it at the same location?
How does the key get married? Sorry sounds like a stupid question but I don't understand the electronic side of this process.

You need someone with access to the VIDA program, the full version which talks to Volvo servers, not the cloned software on eBay.
My indie waits until he has 5-10 jobs lined up, then buys a couple day subscription for $100 or so, runs the jobs.
The new key, car, and computer all have to be connected to make it work. If your indie can't tell you how it works, don't go there, it won't work
