Air Guide confusion, 1995 850 Turbo Wagon with Sun Roof

Post by 850forum »

I am utterly confused. Looking at the drawings below, my 1995 850 Turbo Wagon WITH Sun Roof (it seems to make a difference to the Air Guide part number) the Air Guide looked like the 1994 Alter 1 part #17. The Air Guide got thrown away when it was dragging & my wife brought the car to a mechanic. But I swear that it looked like the 1994 Air Guide -- it had a broken tab on the driver's side and a funky clip (or several) on the FRONT edge. Even if #36 & #34 were always missing so I never noticed them, my Air Guide had the shape of the 1994 version, I remember the three grooves.

In the Spoiler, I have broken Lids (the little grilles on the sides) without round holes for fog lights, but no Louvre in the center hole. So the Spoiler must be 1995 Alter 1 Part #14. ???

The 1995 Alter 1 #26 Air Guide seems to have many more, & different types of, fasteners than the 1994 Alter 1:
#09 six point socket screw, placed vertically,
#10 clip,
#18 a second type of clip, (need 3 ???)
#19 a different PN six point socket screw, placed vertically,
#27 a third type of clip,
#30 & #30a flange screw & washer (in the tab on the driver's side that breaks) (need 2 ???)

Not to mention the unlisted #36, consisting of two flat pieces, #34, and #28 also an "air guide" curved flat piece, and THEIR fasteners.

Should I be looking at a different exploded drawing, that only has 1995 Alter 1 parts shown?

Did Alter 2 even _exist_ in 1994 ???

Here are two exploded drg along with the names & PNs for the numbered pieces:

Front bumper, spoiler air guides alter 2 With hood alter 2 as shown adjacent.

ALTER 1 FOR 1994 CAR
Showing Genuine Parts that fit your: 1994 Volvo 850
Front bumper, spoiler air guides alter 1

Does #32 Louvre fit into the wide central opening in the Alter 1 bumper?
I can see my radiator, its not protected in any way at all. No such part in the 1994 Alter 1 diagram.

I read this thread & it does not help me; my spoiler looks like the photo in the 1st post:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=83114&hilit=alter+1
But then further down another post has 1) a red car with round fog light holes & my Lids are that shape, pointy ends.
2) a burgundy car with the caption "This is "Alter 1" look:" but the bumper cover & spoiler look to me like the 1994 style based on the drawings I found above.

I conclude that
1) The look of Alter 1 is DIFFERENT between 1994 and 1995 and
2) The inset drawing in the 1995 drawing, showing the difference between Alter 1 & Alter 2, is an erronous copy of the 1994 inset drawing. It has the 1994 style big flat area in the middle of the bumper, where the license plate goes.

What drawing do I use to replace my Air Guide & fasteners ?????
