2000 V70: anybody use MOOG control arms?

Hi All:

Just discovered that my driver's side control arm is shot-- lots of play in the ball joint (as well as the tie rod end). I see that Rock Auto has MOOG control arms for $58 Canadian dollars. MOOG used to be a good brand-- has anyone used these?

Any other recommendations? At 290K km I don't think it is blue box-worthy...

Don't know about 2000's, but both my 850s I've tried different control arms. Volvo OEM lasts a good 10 years. Anything else I've tried lasted 2 years. Up to you.

I've read mostly good things about Moog, but also one bad review. They also can change their sources. But at $58 I would be surprised to be a good quality. Decent quality starts at $120USD/side for an IPD HD so you see why I say that for a $58CAD arm. But again, if the car will only drive for another year or two maybe Moog will do.

Moog is Federal Mogul brand....pretty reputable brand in EU.
Oem quality for fair price.

Onmy 1999, same control arms I believe

FEBI $66
Lemforder $96
Blue Box $166 (probably Lemforder)

I went with Lemforder as the price difference was less than the 2 hours at $25 I pay myself to redo the job

I haven't used them on my Volvo yet, but I have a Nissan Pathfinder and Ford F150 that both used Moog control arms and tie rod ends. The Pathfinder has had them going on 5 years now without issue. The F150 less than a year, but still no issue. The Pathfinder also has Moog rear springs. They seem to be a good brand. The parts haven't rusted at all and the rubber bushings all still look good.

My 98 S70 has some URO Parts lower control arms on the front that need to go. Maybe outer tie rods too. I will likely use OEM, but wouldn't hesitate to use Moog if it came to it. I believe they have a lifetime warranty too so if they do fail, you can just replace them. The job isn't that bad on these cars.

I use Moog on my Dodge Ram 1500. So far good. Just be sure to do booth sides. Three year warranty if I am correct.

I will echo others on her about Moog. I have Moog control arms on m 2007 Ford Escape and have done quite well. I have a cousin who works for Ford and he told me when you purchase Moog, they typically have a O/E equivalent part and a cheaper part. So when I bought my control arms for the Escape, Moog had a $69 control arm and a $99 control arm. Obviously, the more expensive one was the O/E equivalent. Do a bit of research and you should be fine. Lastly, since there probably isn't a huge market for Volvo control arms, they may not make 2 versions.

I've use Lemforder instead of blue box a few times for other parts with good success. Just make SURE the Moog does not say 'made in China'

The makes/models mentioned above where people have had good luck with Moog use the same basic style/configuration LCA+bushes as the P80. Except the Ford Escape which is more like the P2s but with a different geometry that would be less stressful on the rear bush.

It'll probably be fine. If your V70 was one year newer (P2) their LCA would probably be a no go.
