2008 C30 crank but no start - no codes

Post by whatamievendoing »

Hey all,

I have a 2008 C30 that will crank but not fire. Feels like it really wants to, just wont. Have owned it for 24 hours so have very limited history on the vehicle. have replaced starter, fuel pump, and battery. also verified spark and plugs look clean. 173k miles. Do not know if it was smoking or what issues it began with, was told it needed a fuel pump  bought from an "agent" of an older couple who kept detailed service records and I know the last full service was in december of 2017, and spark plugs, ignition coils, and various other things where changed at that time. Ran the codes and none presented during key on or attempting to start, and ran a data stream which didnt show me anything noteworthy. Do not know how long it sat but gas appears clean and smells fine. oil looks almost too clean but whatever. IT does not currently have coolant in it as I accidentally broke a hose clamp and dumped it all. Have fixed the clamp and will refill just needed to get a fire first, unless the fact that it doesnt have any is why it wont fire?

Give it a 3 second shot of Ether (Starting Fluid) and then try to start it. If it fires you got a fuel problem.

Remove the cover from the timing belt check the timing belt tension. If it is loose most likely the timing jumped just enough to cause the crank/no start condition but not enough to cause interference, stretched timing belt or broken/loose tensioner.

lay off the rants and run on paragraphs. Both are more likely to get you ignored then help.
