New valve body, trans still unhappy

Post by truher »

Hi everybody,

I replaced my AW55-50 valve body, after an episode wherein I lost all gears, but it seems not to have helped. All is good when cold, but when hot (fluid temp around 100 C), it has a hard time engaging any gears, and if i keep driving it, i'll end up in "limp" mode ("transmission service urgent"). I've tried TCM adaptation, and it just never figures anything out. It did succeed with the N-R garage shift, but not with anything else. Actually the adaptation got me into limp mode too. N-D, in particular, only engages if I rev fairly high, which of course results in a violent "clunk."

Any ideas? I could go measuring the various pressures; imagine sure the C-1 pressure is low, but I don't know what could cause that, other than damage in the clutch itself, which implies a problem i'm not prepared to fix myself.

???

The fluid should not reach 100C. Operating temp is 80C. Radiator fan is spinning?

Interesting you got the N-R adapted, that's the one I couldn't get, see towards the end www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RJyYRQxbZA

Condition of the replacement valve body?

I also think that if the transmission was going that bad in the past, there is wear inside the transmission itself, clutches, pump, etc, even a clogged filter from flowing particles.

Oh interesting. I'll double check the temperature. Valve body looked good, rebuild from valve body pros in Santa Clara.
