So after my second gauge cluster crapped out on me a few weeks ago and I sent it out for a reflow/solder/etc, I put it back in after getting it back today only to get the SRS indicator fault code. "No big deal" I figured as the first time I replaced it I got the same code and just reset it with my maxidiag tool and it went away. This time around however I'm not having any luck, but I can't remember the exact special clearing procedure that I used the first time around so I might be forgetting something. Also, I know the light works to some degree as it lights up when starting the car along with everything else.
So far I've tried:
Clearing it with the engine running. Result: Did not clear.
Clearing it with the engine off but with the key still in the running position. Result: Cleared for all of 2 seconds before returning.
Clearing it in the accessory position: Result: Cleared for like 2 seconds before returning as said previously.
Clearing it with the car in the locked position: Couldn't clear due to the car being off.
I remember there being a special way of doing it but I can't find any reference to it. Most people seem to be just regularly clearing it just fine.
Second gauge-cluster reinstall, can't reset SRS light this time around

The part about it clearing and coming back in 2 seconds is damning. That is what happens when you clear it and there is an active fault that is detects immediately.

Crap. The weird bit is that the light certainly works, as it turns on when the car starts up. Not getting the internal circuit fault error or whatever it's called either.

I'm well aware of what it is if you read the thread. It's pretty clearly complaining about the indicator lamp being faulty. The problem is that I can clearly see that it still works as evident by the startup-sequence and it's not a code regarding any other srs circuitry.

SRS stores all errors in EEPROM, they are not removed, but rather "silenced". When EEPROM becomes full, active code can't be cleared anymore. You need either another SRS or find a handy Volvo hacker, who can reinitialize SRS EEPROM.
