Two days ago the power seats lost the ability to be moved with the car engine off.
-Walk up to car and open the door and try to operate the seat prior to sitting the seats will not move
-Seats will move after car is started and after a slight delay (5 to 8 secs) but doors have to be closed (makes it seem like a relay for car running, doors shut interlock possibly). If the car is shutoff and the key moved to an “ACC” position but not to “OFF” and with the doors closed both seats can be operated from inside the car. If a door is opened the seats again will not move. The car would need to be started again to allow the seats to move (again with doors shut, if engine is shutdown then key taken to an “ACC” position but not to “OFF” the seats can be moved while inside the car)
Is there a run interlock relay that is preventing power to the power seats when car is “OFF”?
Or could this be a software driven interlock that needs a reset?
Appreciate any suggestions!!
Thanks!!

Try a battery reset as it is easy. Disconnect ground cable from battery (-) post and hold it to the (=) post for 10 secods to discahrge all capacitors assuring module memories will be dumped. Then connect the ground cable to battery and lock and unlock doors with remote to assure it exits transport mode.
Did some looking. Looks like the idea is to disconnect both + and - battery cables and hold them together for 5- 10 minutes to discharge any circuit voltage to reset computer data to factory default. Then connect battery cables back to battery and see if problem has been corrected. Only concern is loosing any ECM data that the car uses to operate.

Unless there's some ongoing/unresolved issue with drivetrain/engine management the ECM will relearn the minor variation from baseline that exists from one vehicle to another in short order. I wouldn't worry about it.2012C70BK wrote: 23 Sep 2018, 10:52 Only concern is loosing any ECM data that the car uses to operate.
