Stuck trunk latch works sometimes but not now
All, I'm new to this site but not to Volvo. I'm having trouble finding info on my stuck trunk latch. I have a 2000 v70 GLT (wagon) I'm at a loss. I pulled the interior panel off of the trunk and have manually opened it that way a few times but now nothing works. Please help!

If you can have someone push against the tailgate while you lift the release lever inside of the cargo area you can probably get it come free. From your description it sounds like it is in a bind.

I got it open late last night thru a process of lightly pounding on the door near the latch and depressing the latch lever inside the door. Once open upon further inspection of the latch I found broken pieces of plastic and a spring inside of the latch. After removing them and lubing the latch with a silicon spray it works perfectly again minus the spring no clue what it did as now it works perfectly without it. Thanks for the help!

The spring brings the latch to the unlocked position if it get sticky, so look for a replacement at a PnP if you want to use the tailgate a lot. I have one that works ok, but not as well as a new one, which are expensive.
I put a new one on my V70 as I use it a lot.

Are you saying it will work fine until I lock it? Because it seems to work really well now

I can't remember the guts of this thing. I went to a PnP to get one, and ended up buying an entire 1999 parts car for $500, which I probably 6x my money on in six months.
I do have a thread on this latch somewhere..

I should just buy a parts car like you did, considering that a latch alone is half the cost of a parts car

I got lucky as i unloaded the doors, fenders and hood at $50-100 each in the first week, and still got $250 of scrap metal value at the end.
