Hello to all, and thanks in advance for the help.

2001 Volvo V70 2.4T. 243k miles.

I have two questions. First, I need to replace my subframe bushings, and I'd like to try the poly inserts with the new bushings. I've read several threads that say the ipd inserts won't fit the bushings that come in the kit, and it should be avoided, and further ipd HD bushings of any kind have been short lived for most with experience. I'll avoid them. So I guess genuine Volvo is the way to go. Does anyone know who makes the bushings for Volvo? Is it lemforder? I'd like to save a buck or two if I can. If not, I'll just pay what it costs.

Next up is my turbo. About 15k miles ago I replaced the drain seal in it with a genuine Volvo seal when I last did my PCV system. Currently I don't have a good reason to believe that the seal SHOULD be bad, nor do I think my PCV is clogged again. Last time I replaced the oil trap and its hoses and couplers and made sure the tube that wraps around the engine was clear. It was a thorough job, and should still be fine. But it leaks a tad bit of oil and it appears to be coming from the drain seal. So to the question, is it true that a turbo will "weep" oil as a warning sign of failure? Like a water pump? If so I suspect this is most likely the case, due to high mileage and recent replacement of the seal.

Also if it is on it's way out, would anyone with experience care to speculate on the wisdom of replacing it with a 16T and a tune with this many miles on the engine?

Thanks, Dave

My $0.02 on the turbo: they all leak after a while, and that by itself is in no way an indicator of turbo failure. These turbos are extremely hardy and I wouldn't consider 243k to be particularly high miles for one. You could replace the internal seals (basically send the turbo for a rebuild) for not much cost DIY or send it out for about $300. But I'd just keep running it unless you decide you want to put on the bigger turbo. As far as that goes, the main thing to consider is compression. If that looks good across all 5, totally worth it to put on the bigger turbo at this mileage.

Or just get a turbo from the scrap. These are tough and one with 150k has still plenty of life on it. Less than $100

For the bushings, the bad news is that aftermarket ones are a ticket for do again the job in 12 months... I'll go the same as with the turbo, if you have an extractor, the junk yard is the right place. May even find one that had them replaced not long ago with genuine.

Someone built a home made puller/press with a large bolt, a few washers and a few adapters cut out of thick pipe
