1999 S70 NA Hard Starting after fill-up

This was happening to me when I bought my 2000 v70 a little over a year ago. Fuel (vapors?) fill evap system and flood the engine. I had to push throttle to the floor and crank for 10 seconds or so after every fill up to get the engine running and then, yes, keep rpms high for a little longer.

The reason why (in my case) was because the canister purge valve was faulty. This is easy to test with a vacuum source.

I'm throwing P0171 regularly on startup.
Once cleared, no code during operation.
A week ago I had P0445, but haven't seen it recently.
Further thoughts appreciated.

P0445 is an emissions large leak. Usually the 'J' or 'L' pipes to the carbon filter. I believe on your car it is fitted under the passenger rear footwell or just behind it above the rear axle area. A bit of a swine to get to. The 'J' pipe comes from the carbon filter to the roll over valve. There is also a pipe from the valve to the filler neck area with an 'L' shaped pipe. Both mine were rotten and split.

It may be worth removing the carbon filter and the pipes and blow air through the filter to try to dry it out before re-fitting it and new pipes.

Could be a MAF connector failure.P0172 means that engine runs lean.
Vacuum leak is another suspect.

Next time before starting the car....open the hood and connect & disconnect MAF connector few times.After that...start the car and see if code re-appears.If so....i'll guide you for MAF connector repair.

About P0445...scot850 allready gave you the answer.
I just might add that those two codes might be related.That said...when you fix P0445 you will fix P0171 too and solve all the starting issues after re-fueling.
