You go through a lot of bearings. I've still only replaced one on all my p80 cars, a rear, and that was by mistake (it was the brake shield, not the bearing). Must be that jerky clutch pedal foot!

In at 1100, out by 1300

Here is what I found

211800

Went in to investigate squeak in left rear wheel, occurs after 20 minutes highway driving, wheel rev dependent, changes on side to side loading

Found right parking shoe completely delaminated
Left parking shoe down to 2mm
replaced left rear bearing with Centric from FCP
Textar parking shoes and hardware
Possible left rear caliper freezing up - inboard pad is worn to groove

Source new caliper, pins, hardware, pads.

Tool notes

36 mm socket for rear hub nut. 120 Nm +30 torque Single use nut.
Rear caliper bolts M8

Document Parking shoe install procedure

Loosely mount shoes - do not put into brake plate clips yet.
insert and pin lower spring
Insert brake adjuster into top, insert upper spring
Insert shoes into clips
Using screwdriver as level, pry shoes into lower grooves.

I might have been fooled by the brake shoes on this car. I did replace the wheel hub and bearing with the centric brand one due to the noise evidence, but the whole thing could have been a sticking left rear caliper which has taken one brake pad down to the slot, inboard.

Note

Volvo calls for a new nut on the rear hub replacement

Part number 9200250, $10 part

I calculated the 120 Nm plus 30 degree torque Is well below the elastic limit, so I reused it and punchmarked it,

After 2000 miles, no motion.

For the record I used a GMC front wheel bearing on our 2006 XC90 upon purchase; still quiet after almost 20,000kms. I didn't like that it didn't come with new bolts but that's what to expect at about 1/4 of Volvo's.

Just as well you checked those linings well done!!

At 233xxx miles maybe Textar rearbrake shoes have worn out. Hmmm I do run them tight since it’s a stick car and the parking brake I still important, but that life sucks, 22 k miles

Had a hard time replacing the right rear rotor. Had to grind off the lip with a Dremel and was still really tight. Left one easier.

New Shoes were ATE from FCP. I’ll order new ones for stock as I have three cars that use these now

there is no wear on the parking break shoes since the car is never moving when applied un less you are using it to break loose the rear when drifting corners. the cable must be sticking.
