DiCE - What do you use for 12V power supply

It is 12 - 14V (Automotive voltage range). I use a 12V 3A Laptop power supply. You don't need a power supply when the DiCE unit is plugged into a OBD connector, the OBD connector will supply the power.

The DiCE has stopped working. It lights up with ODB2 connection but does not appear over VIDA 2014A interface.
I tried powering it using OUTPUT 12V 2A to update firmware. Either the external power port is not active or the 12V 2A insufficient.

I use to connect with DiCE like this, now it doesn't. Select Device dropdown is empty:

That response is expected for a Interface test without a diagnostic connector on the OBDII end of the DiCE unit. The clone units do not come with the diagnostic connector, most likely because they don't have the information to clone the diagnostic connector.

The LED, Memory and Communication test will run without the diagnostic connector.

If the LED, Memory and Communication test work .. your power supply is good enough.

Time to replace the USB cable? Only so many flexes and all cables will fail. Do you have the hard-wired in USB cable or the later mini USB connector on the DICE?

Open the case you might find it has mini USB that has become unplugged.

Thank you for your input guys.

Frustrated, I uninstalled VIDA package and then re-installed 2014A version from the original CD. DiCE is restored. The VIDA 2014A version opens in IE8, the username field blinks with cursor BUT, WILL NOT TAKE admin, 1, 2, 3 keyboard input. LOG IN button is grey. VIDA was working fine before the re-install.

It is running on Window 7 Ultimate.

I opened the license file, changed the subscriptionExpireDate year from 2017 to 2099, and saved. Restarted the computer. VIDA 2014A opens fine in IE8, but WILL NOT TAKE username input.

Any thoughts?

When I need a power supply I don't have, I go a Thrift store and dig one out of the box for $1.00.

DiCE did not light up with 12V 3A power supply adapter.
