Tire wear reports anyone?

Well our 2016 is approaching 24k and was wondering if anyone has feedback on tire wear.

I have changed the oil every 7.5k rather than 10k as we own the car. During every change I have the dealer rotate the tires.

I have noticed the tires are louder and exhibit sounds that tire wear is not even. In addition I don't think the tires will make it to 30K - at least worthy of a Minnesota winter.

Car has been pretty good otherwise.

Any others out there?

What brand/model tires came on it? Lookup the UTQG for them. They may not be designed as the longest lasting tire tread wear wise. Volvo chases ride quality/comfort. I would expect long tread life to be somewhat down on the list of priorities in their choice of OE equipped tires. If they're 400 or less, looking iffy for winter at 24k sounds about right.

Most cars are sold with cheap to average quality tires. Never buy replacement tires from the main dealer.

Any tire shop will have better prices and even better tire choices and will be able to recommend the correct size and speed rating.

Interesting to hear Volvo NA (potentially) dressing the cars down for sale. Over here new cars are usually sold with premium tyres. These Volvos would in Europe probably be sold with euro-spec Michelins and they generally have an excellent life span. And always separate summer and winter tyres. Driving a winter or even "winter" tyre in the summer is a good recipe for poor life and a larger tyre expense in the long run. Not to mention the safety aspect.

A bit of extra sound when rotating tyres is normal even though they haven't worn very much though. A bit of toe-heel while within normal range will still make a lot of noise.

Tires are Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season - 275-45-20. Load 110V - Treadwear 600.

Not a cheap tire - not a low spec tire. Doubt they will make it to 30,000 miles.

But I fear the new XC90 will be like the old - a tire eater.

A quality Michelin is most of the times a good bet, quiet and long lasting

This is not true from my experience buying new Volvo cars since 1989. Most if not all came with Michelin or Pirelli but regardless of the tire manufacturer the Volvos always came with premium tires.

I buy my tires at my dealer on the 2004 except once. I went with a brand rated highly recommended and the car was impossible to drive on wet roads without spinning the tires constantly. Volvo has set tires specifications for each model for a reason and if you plan on deviating from factory tires, make sure all the specifications are equal or better than Volvo calls for. Any tire store employee tells you it does not matter is a fool and to listen to a fool rather than the engineers who built your car might one day land you in a accident. June

Tire update. At about 35K miles, with a 7500 mile tire rotation interval, my wife's 2016 went in for new tires and an alignment at the dealership. Tires were worn and loud and needed changing. Car is back to near new level drive.

Another set of like Pirelli's or something different?

For some reason I always steer my sister into Michelins. I stuck Michelins on her old Jetta, and the older XC90 I found for her last year had Michelins already on it when she bought it. They seem to be great tires. If only I'd follow my own advice. The Pirellis I put on my S60 are a little too stiff at recommended tire pressure.

That's a rather short tyre lifespan. Dragracing the car?

Regarding Michelin I've heard them described as the benchmark used when other tyres cause trouble. The ones I've had were great.
