Problem is, what they sent me looks nothing like what I removed:
Did I order the wrong thing? Did I order the right thing and they sent me the wrong thing?
Also...from everything I've ready, replacing that bolt is critical correct?
They also sent me wrong bolts for connecting the hub assembly itself. Is replacing those four bolts critical, and does anyone know the correct part no?
Finally...while I'm at it, I was also reading today that changing the bolts that connect the brake caliper to the bracket is a good idea. Yay, or Nay?
Sorry for all the questions...just super frustrated I got this far to hit a roadblock.
Your picture shows CV joint retainer bolt X 2 different types (early and later) You need the later type (small)
I've never replaced the brake caliper bolts. Just a good torquing is all that's needed. It's up to you if you want to use a thread lock compound.
I re-used my bearing bolts on our XC90 2006. With a good tug on them with an extension bar I have no fear they'll come loose. If you're not an experienced wrencher I would advise replacing them.
So on the hub assembly bolts, I ordered from the link you sent. What they sent looks different than what I pulled out. Same length, but threads go all the way to the head, and more importantly (though it may not matter) the head is a couple mm bigger on the new ones.
So to be clear...you feel like the axle bolt is fine to reuse if I get it nice and tight and follow the torque specs carefully?
They're stretch bolts so when you tighten if you feel any lightening of the load on your hand they are stretching too much.
That's why you're better off with new ones tightened to correct torque.
I do like the originals with the thicker shaft. Why does everything have to be cheapened when it's a replacement item?
I don't think an extra couple of mm is going to foul anything, just check it once it's all torqued up.

I may be wrong but I think you can use the longer bolt in place of the shorter one. The shorter one is a anti-pinging type to prevent that ringing sound upon take-off.
On an aftermarket CV axle I had to use the longer type as the offset wasn't correct for the shorter one.
