Re: broke key transponder

Dice is an interface box that connects between the car and computer. Normally the diagnostic software is installed on the computer that is connected to Dice and the car. But it sounds like doublebug has figured out a way to access it over an internet connection. Likely some sort of remote session that can take control of a usb port so that his computer thinks it's connected directly to your car even though 'the internet' and your computer are actually in the middle. I'm aware of at least one program that can do this, though I've never tested it for this scenario. In theory it should work like a charm so long as network lag/latency isn't off the charts.

You don’t need the software to work with doublebug, but you do need DICE box, computer, and internet

The guys in Easyern Europe can make anything work with massive latency, necessity being the mother of invention.

Talk to Henry about this. User name doublebug.

It will be a lot less than a 100 mile flat tow and dealer service

you can go on ebay and buy the chip, IIRC Doublebug or Sergey needs an ID 48 to reprogram your Security system.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Glass-Key-T6-T ... Sw2jNbrDvw

The chip is a very small pill looking thing and it does not have to be attached to the key itself. So it can be placed /glued somewhere close to the lock and you can then use your original key, or you can order a plastic key grip on ebay that will hold the new chip and the metal part of your key. But look carefully at the fit, because you may have to grind a bit on the key to make it fit the new grip. And removing the old grip from teh key itself is a PITA.. Be extra careful when you get the chip because it is in a glass capsule. You will need a Windows laptop, a OBD2 cable and a wifi signal that reaches into your car to do this. Henry or Sergey will install an app on your computer remotely, use remote access to your laptop, then access you car's security system and change the ID transponder code to match the chip (ID 48). Then your car will start.

Is doublebug still doing this? I messaged him but no reply yet. He hasn't been around since May.
Any other option other than the dealer's?

He just programmed something for me 2 weeks ago.

What you need:
1) ID48 megamos crypto transponder go online they are small and cheap
2) Internet connection
3) Dice connected to laptop preferably with usb driver installed
4) a Skype connection to laptop so files can be transferred (you can also use Team Viewer ver. 11)

That was quick.

If Dice appears in Device manager when plugged in to OBDII port and laptop USB port you're OK.

If it shows up as an unknown device you need to install the USB driver.

PM me with your email address if you can't find it online. Volvo used to have ithe driver on the corporate USA site afew years ago. Don't know if that's still the case.
