Angle gears associated with the TF-80SC have the drain fill either on the back or on the side. My old angle gear in the V8 had it on the rear (fluid swap was a complete PITA, got scars to prove it). When I replaced with OE exchange in 2016 (new PN with some added parts), I noted that the drain/fill is back on the side.

It's there, might have to crawl around a bit to see it.

The diagram below shows a port just above the bolt location #16.
It is a plug with copper gasket, but one problem. The port opening is blocked with metal wall.

Maybe best to do an image search for Volvo 31325886 or Volvo 36002052, lots of photos which show both of the locations.

Not following the "blocked by metal wall" comment, a short section of the exhaust passes in front of the side fill hole and I'm pretty sure if needs to come off if you're doing a fluid change. It does for a V8 if the hole is on the side (as mine is now).

10/23/18 edit- Understand what you mean by metal wall now, the receesed area above #16 does not have a threaded drain plug in your car. Maybe a photo would help if you can do it, if you have a third location for a D/F hole, I for one would like to see it. Rear hole is hard to see, you may have to look from behind the subframe to see it.

It is the port for D&F.
The hose was too big of an OD/ID to travel pass the opening -- rigid material too. Narrower hose line 3/8" OD with softer material traveled deep and worked flawlessly.

Instead of using my Mityvac, found this pump https://www.amazon.com/ALEKO-BST1017N-D ... 017n&psc=1 an easier and faster alternate.

Thank you for your quick replies.

Not many posts on 3.2 angle gear fluid replacement, any chance you could do a quick write-up on what and how you did it for the benefit of the forum? And where exactly was the hole, on the side or at the back? I know the 5/6 and the V8 layouts, but never crawled under a 3.2. Photos if you have them would also be great.
Glad it worked out...

Take a look at this link for 3.2 info on changing the fluid in the power transfer unit

http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic14659-15.html

Note: this is for the Land Rover LR2 with the Volvo 3.2

Thanks

Paul

Bevel gear fluid drain and fill port. This photo reference was overdue:

XHeart,

Green Arrow is the drain/fill port.

Red Arrow is the bottom of the Angle Gear.

Note: this only applies to the Angle Gear housing with the side flange that is 90 degrees to the Half Shaft center line

If you have a PTU that is a 45 degree angle to the Half Shaft center line then I have no idea where the drain/fill is.

Note: I drilled a drain hole for mine, getting the tube to the bottom of the Angle gear assembly is very difficult.

Good Luck

Thanks Paul.
The port faces green arrow -- next to the axle. It is a 14mm plug.
