1999 v70xc has trouble starting when cold

Post by MsGhost117 »

Our 1999 v70xc has had trouble starting when cold. It starts, runs for one to two seconds, then stumbles and dies. Repeats three to four times, eventually it will stay on, with some minor difficulty. Once driven for a few minutes, it behaves relatively normally. The only code is an evap code, p0455, and we haven't found the culprit for 2 years. We've replaced the fuel pump, the maf, and the fuel pump relay. We aren't sure where to go from here. Any advice is appreciated!

Coolant temp sensor?

I second the ECT as a likely cause. If you decide to try replacing it, use only a Genuine part.

As far as the evap code, try checking the charcoal canister evap hose. You have to unbolt the forward lifting panel in the trunk and slide it out. Once that's away, there's a round access hole on the passenger side secured by several bolts. Open that up and you should be able to see a couple hoses in there. Mine had a crack in it causing the small evap leak code.

Thanks for the suggestions! We just got the new ECT yesterday, and we will be installing it this afternoon.

As for the evap, we have managed to replace the L hose through that access hole, but we could never seem to put our hands on the J hose. Should it be right there when we open it?
