What's the reason for this oil deposit?

first thing to check is the gasket on oil filler cap. If that seal leaks it runs along that edge and shows up there and other places.

As above, see/replace that gasket, then undo the torx screws from the cover and check the hose near the oil cap for leaks/cracks (would be a pcv system). If the pcv was never done, replace it at this moment.
