The speakers in the car work fine, I think quality of the sound is just perfect. But, I miss some bass in the sound but... I don't see me installing a big subwoofer and amplifier in the trunk of the car. Is there some... midway? Like a small subwoofer and amplifier in one device that I don't know about?
You can replace the subs mounted in the back shelf behind the rear seat. Though I have a T5, and I don't know if all models had rear subs? The stock subs are great if you have the stock amplifier under the passenger seat and it still works.
Ocelot,

I have this sub mounted under my passenger seat, cost effective and sounds great (it did take me a while to get the settings straight though):

This shop is in Amersfoort but also ships. I dropped by because I wanted to check the size and the guy was really nice and helpful.

Message me if you want to get more details?

If you need to, you can remove the hose camp from where it attached to the ETM and slip that hose off, but the problem at that point is that it's much easier to do this when the fan is out of the way.

I can't stand the design of the '99+ intake.
Thanks! I had been nudging it over but didn't want to crack or dislodge the intake pipe. Even loosening the clamp and rotating it out of the way would help, but I can't see where it attaches.

The '99 intake is nuts!
Bruno , we should be doing PCV anyway on that new to you...once the manifold is off, easy Peazy. Ive got a spare ETM gasket, too.

I managed to get to the starter in the '99 XC by removing the fan shroud first, then the fan assembly. Counterintuitive!

The starter came out after some coaxing with a dead blow hammer. I don't know if the metal bell-shaped piece was broken beforehand, but I managed to fish out the shard from the flywheel area.

The seller had intended to replace the starter before being dissuaded by the complexity and gave me the one he had bought from a junkyard. Who doesn't love a freebie?

Installation was a lot faster, but now nothing happens when I try to crank it. Hopefully, I'll have time to bring out the multitester before Thanksgiving dinner.

I also replaced the broken headlight switch. It works!

Worse than before. When I saw the car, it turned over and sputtered. Now, nothing happens. It doesn't crank or click.

Hmm, that's weird. Are you sure everything is connected properly?

Maybe the new starter is a dud.

It can’t be since Bruno beach tested it first and it was fine.

I’ll throw my good one in the trunk, doing a drive by this holiday

I’ve got lots of good parts coming up from a Caravan through Mexico, seeking asylum from URO terrorist parts..striking terror into Volvo DIY

Is it an absolute PITA to check the starter for voltage without removing everything? I'm wondering if brunocerous bumped a ground somewhere. (When I replaced my front engine mount I tore through a ground that I didn't notice until after I put everything back together.)

And yes, I hope you bench tested that starter...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!
