2007 XC90 Expansion Tank

Post by Quigs11 »

I have a Volvo xc90 with a leaking expansion tank. I found a replacement 30741973 but it only has one nipple connector on the top of the tank and my old tank 30760100 has 2 nipple connectors on top. Can I "T" one hose into the other hose and connect to the nipple connector?

If you are creative enough, then I guess you can do a T to save money since you already have the new reservoir with only 1 nipple.

I don't have your year or engine, but on my 2004 T6, I believe one side takes coolant in from the thermostat housing and the other side serves as a vent hose which may run to the radiator (don't recall).

If this is the set up on yours I don't think it will work.

If one hose has liquid flowing in and the other is some sort of vent a single port will cause a conflict.

Start your engine and have a look.
