Ripped leather upholstry, 1993 850 GLT

The rip is laterally on the seat cushion along the seam, it's actually a blown seam, not a tear, growing to about 4 inches now. Front passenger side.

What do you recommend?

I have the same problem, but on the upholstery seats. The tear is on one of the seams on the top part of the seat that your back rests on. It's around 4 inches wide. I also have no idea on what to do.

an upholstery shop usually can take care of this. they'll take the leather off and sew it from the inside. could be pricey but prices to tend to vary depending on who is hungrier at the time. Seen them go anywhere from $50-200. Some shop can redo all the leather for a practically new seat. They take yours off unstich all the leather panels and recreate them. Results can be amazing to mediocre.

replace seat new or used-semi to very expensive
replace skin with new volvo - expensive
duct tape - cheap
scotch tape - priceless
seat cover - nice little sheep fur ones are warm and fuzzy

I split the seam on my drivers seat kneeling on it one day. I took the seat out (four bolts, 2 electrical connections unplugged, seatbelt bolt undone from seat). Then I just undid the hog rings from the lower cushion. Was hardly a high-tech job, just some patience and a pair of needlenose pliers and snap ring pliers. Took it to the upholstery shop... $20 for them to sew it. Installation a little more difficult than removal, but not much more... patience. Yes it was worth it, and I discovered why my heated seat wasn't working at the same time... burnt out heating pad. So I was able to order that in and replace it too.
