Business trip to NJ, then to Allentown PA, then BMC, then home at 1900.

A scant 500 miles from my Moon Milestone....221,200 miles.
Congratulations.
One year from now , I’ll be hitting the 240-250k mark on this car, and ETM And clutch ( still original, tested by 6 teen drivers) will be looming. It will kill me inside, but it will be time to sell Elizabeth the 1999 to someone who wants the sexy growl of the T5 stick shift. She is a great airport car, but I already have a good car for that and now that Uber is up and running even that doesn’t make sense. Grandma moves back to NY in Spring, and adds a 2013 Golf to the fleet, stick shift of course. Shes 88, so probably only a decade of driving left.

Hey, good for her! My grandmother is 84, and she never even had a license (my grandfather drove and they lived in NY for a long time, never really needed one) but she sure loved beeping the horn on my brother's Miata when I had it in the garage!

Went to replace my broken up rear 12V appliance plate on the 99, ended up swapping out entire console. I like the flat gray of the Base model more than the faux stainless metal of my T5.

The console was from my parts 99 dismemberment

Lost one of the M4 bolts that hold the console into the abyss, but had two spares from the 99 parts car screw jar

Replaced both bulbs with new sylvania 37 from FLAPS

That's still a bargain compared to what I spent to — wait for it — CUT DOWN MY OWN TREE at a farm. It was fun for the kids, but I'm sure I could recreate the wagon rides by driving them around with the hatch open.

I changed the oil in the Silver Bullet after 5k miles There seemed to be tiny bubbles in the oil on the dipstick when I checked the level afterward.

Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment, but I think I might be interested in your '99. Get back to me in a year.

In my experience, cold oil when ambient temp is around freezing seems to trap a lot of air bubbles.

Was at Wally-World today to grab some New Years eve supplies. Saw there was a sale on Rotella T6 5W-40 for $4.50/qt when you buy 2 one gallon jugs (8qts). With my winter oil change due, too good of a deal to pass up. Mobil 1 10W-40 came in second cheapest at $5.60/qt when you buy a 5qt jug. Looks like she's getting that high-class Rotella treatment for Christmas.
