Block location for engine code was also mentioned in one of my previous posts...besides spark plug cover.
In fact....the same code is on sticker on timing belt cover...unless somebody changed that as well.

If you ask me....DOHC spark plug cover replacement for a 20 valve one would be the same if you would put a T5 or R badge on n/a car.
They are also interchangeable...why would anybody do that?!

Well. I'm not sure that's comparable. Badges are badges and parts are parts. I'm just saying that if my spark plug cover cracked or got broken, and I could only get the DOHC cover, I'd rather put that on there than have nothing. Cover would still be accurate (unlike a T5 badge on an NA car), and it would fit fine.

Don't trust a spark plug cover to tell you what engine you have. And "DOHC" does not mean "10 valves".

Well,Show us ONE 20v car with DOHC designated spark plug cover.
From the beginning of production of p80 cars i never seen one...and Volvo clearly separated those two types of engines exactly with those spark plug covers designations.
DOHC designation -10 valve engine.
20 valve designation - 20 valve engine.
From p2 models they stopped putting those designations.

It's the Internet. Now you have someone ordering a DOHC and installing it on a 20 valve car just yo be pedan-dick.

Merry Kwanzakadan, everyone

Isn't DOHC Latin for Decadus on Headus Cylinderus....10 Valves?

I have a DOHC cover from a 10 valve head and I have a spare 20 valve head.

Should I try and fit it to see if I can change the unwritten Volvo god Thor's rule-set? What will become of me if it does fit? Will I be struck by lightning or worse still will Thor render all 5 of my coil packs blown?

Tune in and see the next episode folks at the same time tomorrow.

Your front hood springs will give out. If they don’t hold your hood up for 4 hours, see your doctor.

No way. Slightly longer. It fits along the grooves however the bolt holes don't line up and the oil filler cutout has an unsighlty gap.

I might just get 1st prize for answering the most oddball question on the forum though I thought I had that nailed when I answered the blinker fluid color question.

Well,i guess that someone here realized that Volvo took care about somebody won't mix those covers...and in the end....those covers actually CAN be trusted. ;)

I rest my case. 8)

I have a 10v NA and there the IAT sensor is located where the MAF would normally be. On my car it is this sensor: https://www.pkwteile.at/fae/2495377 but mine is '98.
