2000 V70 NA Intake Air Temp Sensor? Not used on 20 V engine

I rest my case.

You "case" was that "DOHC" means (or in your words, "designate") a 10 valve engine. I pointed out that "DOHC" does not, in fact, either mean or "designate" 10 valves. It means Double OverHead Cams. So my case is pretty solid. Until precopster brought the only interesting fact along, you were also as convinced as me that those covers were interchangeable.

If "DOHC" indeed means "10 valves", then what's this:

Must be a mistake. "DOHC" designates 10 valves.

One would think they knew what they were doing.

My original and only point was that "DOHC" does not mean "10 valves". In the very specific case of a Volvo 850 engine with 10 valves, the spark plug cover with the "DOHC" lettering INDICATES that the engine has 10 valves. Still - don't trust a spark plug cover to tell you what engine you have.

What's more interesting is how that DOHC cover is longer... I can understand the holes not lining up, but how is it longer...?

Ok,you are loosing yourself here!That's what i was trying to point out to you this whole time!

I was specific about P80 cars....(p80 world)5cyl Volvo engine...not about other Volvo engines,especially NOT about other 4cyl or 6cyl engines from other car makes....JUST Volvo P80 engines!

Right,they are both with double overhead camshafts...but every Volvo engine marked with DOHC instead of 20 valve indicates 10v engine in Volvo p80 world.
Others are marked with 20 valve.
That's the easiest way to tell if your Volvo is equipped with 10 or 20 valve engine,besides engine code on the block behind timing belt cover.
Canada have 10v cars while U.S market never imported those.

This "designation" is also used on s,v70 cars UP TO P2...not just on 850....whole p80 line.

Twist it any way you like - “DOHC” doesn’t mean 10 valves and it doesn’t designate 10 valves wherever you find it. That’s just how it is.

Show me ONE 850 or s,v70 (p80) ...JUST ONE...with DOHC designated spark plug cover which DON'T have 10v engine.

Thats just the way how Volvo classified 10v and 20v engines in 850 and s,v70....and took care that DOHC and 20 valve spark plug covers are not interchangeable...and that's just how it is,like you allready said..."in this very specific case".

Almost forgot....besides DOHC designation on spark plug cover on p80 cars...GLE badge also indicates that 850 n/a have 10v engine.

Doesn’t matter how you twist it - “DOHC” doesn’t mean “10 valves”, and certainly doesn’t “designate” it.

DOHC means Double OverHead Cams, and the 20v engines are also DOHC.

If you have a 10v engine, you’ll have a spark plug cover that doesn’t say 20 Valves. Still... don’t trust a spark plug cover to tell you what kind of engine you have.

Cars with DOHC on the cover have hood springs that fail early, and 20 valve cars valve springs won't fit the rear springs of P2s

But the dome light on all Volvos can be used as a time portal....that is for certain.
