Hi everyone, my 2007 xc70 ( I'm in Australia)is likely to be having a fuel pump relay problem but I am unable to locate the relay, we have looked in all the spots for the other fuses or relays but to no avail! Can anyone help?

No fuel pump relay. There is a Fuel pump control module ( FPCM, FPM or PEM depending on the model) in the rear quarter panel.

In our Aussie market we may not have PEM due to emission laws and other variations. If you have a fuel pressure sensor fitted to the fuel rail then you have a PEM otherwise the relay is on the CEM above the steering column

The relay on 2005 and later is board mounted in CEM. It may be replaceable via desolder but you will have to locate it by tracing fuse track on PCB. Or someone may have done that and save that step. The relays are available from different sources. I have found a few of the solder to board relays on Ebay and Amazon.

Are both pumps not working or which one if only one.

We've managed to fix it! Mine doesn't have a pem either or fuel relay, uses the ecu to run pump, so we added an alternative power source 12 volts direct to pump(pump runs continuously) car starts & runs we removed power supply to pump while car still running. Problem is now fixed, its a mystery!!

I'll be taking it to my Volvo mechanic when he returns from holidays on the 7th, but I'll be able to drive it there rather than on the back of a tow truck. Happy New Year 😁
