Anyone know how many amps a 2002 V70 X/C alternator outputs? Installing an aftermarket stereo and may need a little more output.

They are not all the same, 120A, 140A or 160A depending on the options the car came with. You need to get the numbers off the alternator to determine which one you have.

Might be hard to see in the car. Often molded on the back cover in non-contrasting colors.

Try sliding a camera and take a macro of the regulator, some of the numbers should be apparent, then check the FCP site

The amperage will shown as somethig like, "70 ->120". The low number is the output at a standard alternator RPM for engine idle speed and 120 is max rated.

How can one tell if their current alternator was replaced with one of the right size? How would one go about confirming their current alternator is indeed correct one? Is there a way the VID gets used to find out option package?
