Well guys...MDK here. The problem was the nut holding the ball joint to the control arm was loose. I just left tire discounters and the mechanic unloosed it by hand. That's why it was so squirrelly on the road. .. ridiculous. MDK rolling on... over and out.

Really good to hear you find it and it didn't come out (I don't think it would come out while driving, the ball joint stud is long enough, but who knows)

The conical washer into aluminum knuckle comes loose if you don't counterhold the stud and tighten the nut. I've seen it on several brands using that arrangement.

This is coming back to me now. When I did my P2 clutch, I also did a FWB and removed the struts - I recall the nut needing countertorque to get to torque.
