'04 V70 Front Fogs retrofit

Post by Faust »

My '04 V70 has a sort of battered front bumper cover. Since just touch up paint is $25 and a Pick n' Pull bumper cover is $35, the decision was made. Took about a month to find one in the right color, mounted on an '03 S60. On actual inspection, I found it had fog lights which my '04 does not. I decided I liked the look and took it. Not being a particularly balmy day, I also grabbed the dash switch. I couldn't find a connector for the light wiring, so I cut them about 18 inches from the light sockets. Looking around the 'net, I find that I should have grabbed some relays, that my '04 should be pre-wired about to the front bumper cover, to make them work, I will
need software downloaded. How am I doing so far? Since it is mostly about the "look" I almost wouldn't care if they operated, however state inspection law is that all "factory" lights must operate. One year I removed the inoperable fog lights from my old beater minivan so I could pass inspection.

This is based on adding fog lights to a S40.

Look up under the V70, I think your find the wiring docked in a holder. Software download not needed, however a parameter in the installed software will need to be switched on, this can be done with VIDA/DiCE.

I am about to order a computer with VIDA installed and a dice cable. Will that do it, or do I need to subscribe to a Volvo service?

That will do it.

You need both the DiCE unit with its built-in cable, and the USB-to-OBD connection cable. Likely you are getting that, just wanted to mention it to be clear.

That a question for the one selling it to you. I have no way of knowing how the seller set it up.
