I just replaced my rear wheel bearings on my Volvo. I also replaced the rear parking brake shoes and can’t seem to get the the passenger side rotor on.
I’m kind of new to Volvo and probably made some beginner mistakes. I tried moving the lever up and down and it felt very loose, i then tried adjusting the cable under the ashtray which I found to be very confusing in the Haynes manual. The cable can’t be possibly worn all of a sudden?? I do remember the rotors were very difficult to remove and the parking brake did function properly before. Also the large beefy “horseshoe” retaining clips were an absolute nightmare to connect between the shoes.
I hope this is not confusing I feel hopeless with this car, I keep painting myself into a corner every time I work on it I was always told that Volvo’s are complex pieces of machinery. I would greatly appreciate some help!!

I always try to work on my own cars but it seems that Volvo’s can be so complicated at times. I do seem to love them for their excellent rust resistance. I can’t understand why one rotor is sooo loose and the other side is sooo tight. I got underneath and pulled on the center cable under the differential and seems loose

I have a 1995 Volvo 960 with independent rear suspension and I just replaced my e brake shoes and can’t get one of the rear rotors back on. The other rotor goes on very loose. I tried moving the adjuster back and fourth and can’t get it to release on one side

Follow up on this one.
I’ve had to grind the lip off rear rotor/drum twice to get the rotor back on over new parking brake shoes.
I use aDremel and a stone, it takes about five minutes per rotor/drum
I grind the lip off and also clean up the parking brake surface of rust, wipe with brake cleAner.
