2004 S80 2.9L NA - Oil leak

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2004 S80 2.9L NA - Oil leak

Post by dejongmc »

Hello,

Here my next post as I'm trying to get my car back in good condition.

I noticed an oil leak on the passenger side of the engine, near the time belt area, at the backside of the engine.
I took one part of the timing belt cover off and could see some traces of oil in that area, but I was not able find the oil leak just by a visual inspection.
The car has 160k+ miles on it and the timing belt has been replaced at 100k miles.

Here some pictures of the timing belt area, where it looks like the belt somehow picks up some oil:

Hello,

What is on the passenger side at the back of the engine that may cause an oil leak?
All PCV hoses and stuff are at the front of the engine right?

Looks like a possible exhaust cam seal? Seems to be above where the waterpump housing is so could also be valve cover?
More pictures from above on the firewall side might be helpful.

I want to check the PCV system too, make sure it is not clogged.

I used to have an 850 and a V70, and one of the checkpoint was to see if there is positive pressure coming out of the oil dipstick tube. (smoke or air coming out of the tube, instead of sucking air in)
Is that also the case with the S80's?
