Post by natural4reelz »

Y is my car alarm silent when it goes off????
I have a 02 VOLVO S60 2.4L TURBO

I want to hear my car alarm

Is it possible to hear it ?? I only see the flashing red dash light and interior lights flash when it goes off.

Hope it is a easy fix

I know where it’s located .... under passenger side wheel area.....

The P2 modules last 10 years then the battery in them Pukes chemicals onto the circuit board, killing them.

It’s worth opening them up and trying to cleAn the crap off.

The hazard lights will flash if the alarm is triggered, however if you don't hear anything it mean the alarm sound doesn't work any longer as mentioned above. The sound is produced separately by a 'siren' module (google up about it). This is how the siren sounds like www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMpSlDvaNoU You can also trigger the alarm by locking the car, then opening the trunk with the mechanical key (key lock is located at the right of the plate, look from underneath). This should also trigger the alarm.

The interior lights should not flash when the alarm is triggered. Only the hazard lights (turn lights) and the red dash light starts blinking faster.

I thought there was a fuse in the fuse block just for the actual audible siren on the P2 chassis.

Open the driver door and pull the fuse panel cover and look through the fuse list. Maybe you get lucky and it is a blown fuse.

Other possibility is the alarm has been set to not beep. Check your owner's manual.

Usually when the alarm module goes bad the info display will tell list some alarm service message.

Run through these first.

YEah - where was my head on this thread? I went straight to rocket surgery...

Fuse, testing siren itself all make sense before digging up the buried module
