Hey folks,
With the help of your excellent tutorials on pulling/ rebuilding cv axles, I started rebuilding the front passenger's axle on my 98 V70XC. The one problem - the axle boots I ordered (OEM Volvo from FCP Euro) don't fit the inner CV. These boots, and most that I can find on the web, are all designed to fit on circular shafts, whereas my shaft has these notches in it that the boot mates into (see picture). I'm pretty sure a circular boot won't mate and will just fling grease everywhere. Anybody know where to find these or have a part number for boots to fit these axles?
Thanks!

NAPA has the correct GKN/Lobro part but it doesn't come up correctly in their computer. I had them pull everything for a '98 through 2000 Volvo and found the right one just by looking at them. I think there were only three or four options to choose from.
Way deep in my memory I think it crossed to a manual transmission car.

Ah thanks for the link! Knew other folks must've had the same problem, but didn't know what to search. NAPA didn't have the GKN boot, but they had a bunch other boots with the teeth to fit in the "crenulations" and I found one for a Ford that seems like it oughta work. Is this a terrible idea? Any thing to look out for when assembling the joint fit-wise? It fits over the the joint snugly without having to stretch too much, doesn't seem to gap down in the grooves either.

Update: I gave up and dropped my axle off at CVJ axle for a rebuild. Figured their $100 for a full rebuild with new bearings is better than the ~$80 or so I'll spend on boots for a better result. They informed me that my axle wasn't OEM volvo, so they couldn't rebuild it, buuut they did have a Volvo core! So, I'm just going to shell out for that. We'll see how it goes!
