Bought as a project car for an engine swap.

'99 S70, FWD, auto, base, non turbo. Engine seized. Unknown etiology, although there is oil in sump, so engine wasn't run dry.

Xemodex rebuilt throttle body. 2 sets alloy wheels, one w/snows. Newish (less than 25 k miles) Bosch coil packs. Koni FSD suspension front and rear. Faux wood trim, leather back seat. Front seats are beat, but have Greek seat covers (Topcar Athens). Newish trunk struts. Extra driver door and front passenger fender. Has SC 901 headunit w/3 cd changer, Dolby, amp & center speaker dash (I think center speaker is blown). Functioning A/C and heater core recently replaced. Rebuilt steering rack. PCV components newish. Upper torque mount replaced. Brakes good.

Evaluation of motor this weekend.

Got 30mm socket on crank pulley - I can feel crank turning and resistance in pistons. I removed starter and confirmed that the flywheel is moving slightly, but then I put Pooh sticks into all cylinders, 1-4 move but number 5 is stuck firm.

Gentle pressure on pistons confirms movement in 1-4, none in 5

Borescope in 5 unremarkable.

Ive got a feel I have stuck ring in the bore.

Added MMO/diesel/acetone in a proprietary mixture, known only to MVS, to Cylinder 5.

Planned strategy - give it a week soak, then see if I can break it free and retain compression.

A well working MM ETM body will be sacrificed to Odin, God of Volvo this week for compensation.

Gave it a tap. Still have 3 cm of solvent on top, no joy of motion

Cylinder 5 came free after 3 day soak
Engine spins easily
Starter inop, replaced

Ordered up replacement overhead dome light assembly
Ignition switch iffy? removed and cleaned contacts.
Passenger side heat on MCC was cold, found wire disconnected at MCC controller head off, reconnected. I love mechanical stuff to fix.
Slight stain at PS pump return line
SLight stain on AC condensor - radiator?
Oil looked a bit watery on startup, but water boiled off nicely on 5 mile illegal drive.
Battery holding 12.4V at 0C - starts and cranks well
Turned off DRLs
Ordered all new Radiator hoses except heater hoses.

Battery pooped out in cold weather, replaced with used
Ordered new battery cable
Replaced dome light 9483142
Topped off power steering fluid
Tightened dash trim
Replaced ignition switch
Driver seat latch sticky, replaced with low use used , 9191817 cost $75

No start, complete dead dash on key on.

Loose negative terminal. Twisted old, solved. Elapsed time , 57 seconds

New one $100, will evaluate spare.

Hot test run to Boston at 65-70 mph
Returned 29.9 mpg on 91 octane

Purge valve chatter

Oil use 0.0 liters, engine dry

Dome lights still latching on after key on - ok on cold awakeing before key is used.

Dropped 4 liters ATF from drain, very small amount of sludge on fill plug

15/16 inch wrench on plug
ATF washer part 977751 18x24mm

Added 3 liters Dexron Maxlife ATF To low cold mark 10 minute run

Converted key to new keys with spare antenna ring located under dash - now have three keys to drive!

One funny bit - car does one immob fail cycle of start, stall - then starts flawlessly.

Solved mystery ...if key is left in immob to long a ECM 0750? Pops according to web. This maps to P1081, which was present. When I cleared it, car starts immediately
The burning question, how long is too long to trigger code?

No power to seats or 12VDC area - connector under console loose

Replaced Coffee Cup holder with spare from parts car - Kaching!

158700 - replaced PS reservoir (Volvo) and supply hose (Rein) from FCP - Oetiker clamps
Drained and renewed PS fluid with Maxlife ATF with Gibbons method - two flushes.

REwired 12Vdc plugs to terminal 30.
Rewired seat heaters to fox SupplyPoint fault.

Observed that lock controller fault is lighting both the dome light am down the key ring light on term 15 power up. Need to figure out if it’s a logic failure or an input failure.
Replaced hose clamps on Coolant overflow to radiator nipple.

Added 500 mL ATF to full cold mark after short trip

Replaced EVAP J and L hose to canister /rollover
3/4inch PEX fittings work perfectly on hoses.
Cleaned, dressed and painted canister Bracket
Replacd hardware with SS from Lowes

AC equilibrated at 35 DELTA at ambient 85F

Troubleshot and repair passenger side MCC controller wire.
