rear power window

1996 Volvo 960 wagon. Passenger side rear power window has not worked for six years. This morning I got in the car, started it up and the rear window started to go down. The safety switch was on. I tried switching the controls on the rear door as well as the driver side door panel. Could not get the window to go back up. My husband tried pulling the window back up but could not budge it. I started the car and went to the store and the window went down another two or three inches. The safety is still on. Can't believe it had to wait til mid-November to do this. Any ideas before I call the Volvo dealer who charges big bucks to drive into his parking lot. Thanks in advance for any help.

It sounds like the switch or switches are bad.

You can pop out the switch holders and try swapping the switches to see if you can get the window up.
