Performance chips for 2008 XC70

Post by REnglerth »

I am wanting to increase the performance in my 2008 XC70. I know nothing about performance chips or anything of the sort. Could someone recommend a brand and give me any relevant information and/or tips on this matter? Thanks.

As far as I understand there is no engine upgrade available for the 2008 3.2 unfortunately, assuming that is the engine you have.

NA engines generally don't have any potential for software optimisation. There are software tunes for all the turbo models though.

I have the turbo model. What exactly does a software tune entail.

Plug in the tuning computer from the tuning company, push a button, wait, done. Usually they just add a bit of extra boost since that's easy to control electronically and most engines have quite a margin between what they can handle and how they're sold.

Volvo PoleStar tune is the dealer offered perf tune. Check prices of Hilton and others and then go talk to the dealer and see if they will get competitive. I have a 2010 XC60 and Polestar does wake up that already alert engine. No harm to MPG on highway but I damn sure can't tell you that it helps around town as I drive it like I stole it in traffic.
