Used a new to me detailer and gloss schampoo from swedish tershine. Seems to work quite well. It'll be nice to see and do it properly in the spring using concentrated detailer. Today it was diluted as a wiping aid.
What did you do to your Volvo today? Topic is solved

Washed it. Wasted effort this time of year but it looks nice for a couple of minutes at least

I was impressed when I received my rebate card the other day, just 2 weeks after submission. Fasted rebate I've ever gotten. This makes it by far the cheapest full synthetic oil change I've ever done.bmdubya1198 wrote: ↑30 Jan 2019, 11:26Ah, they have the rebate available again. I couldn't find it when I searched, I only saw the last one that ended Dec 31st. Castrol rarely does rebates. M1 usually has them, but I don't think they currently have any. All the Shell brands are good about rebates.erikv11 wrote: ↑30 Jan 2019, 10:29 Over the last 3 years I have found that you can basically always get the $7 per gallon rebate on Rotella T6 if you just google around a little bit. E.g. now, https://rotella.shell.com/en_us/coupons ... 90NXQ2Lw==
My MO has been find the 2.5 gallon jugs cheap at Walmart or Amazon, buy two of them, cash in the $35 in rebates, then wait until I run low in the basement and do it again. It ends up being about $70 for 20 quarts. I use the T6 in all of my P80 cars.
Haven't really noticed quieter lifters, but (knock on wood) haven't heard that horrendous oil cooler t-stat noise.
I have a can of Moly I'm debating adding, since the new T6 has no moly and few other friction modifiers in it (or so I'm told).

Happy to report that yesterday there was once again NO lifter noise! Also didn't notice the oil cooler t-stat, but it may have made very little noise because I also have a whiny idler pulley, which makes a similar noise.

Replaced the old whiperblades with new Bosch blades. I've tried all kinds of whiperblades, except the silicone ones (anyone that has experience with those?) but I still haven't seen a better brand the Bosch blades.

IMHO, Bosch Icons are the best wiper blades. And if you can find them on sale, a set can be had for as little as $32. I've heard good things about PIAA silicone blades, but at over $65 a set they had better perform excellently for over 3 years. You can easily make Bosch Icons last 2 years if you take care of them (if not longer). I know silicone is better than rubber, but I just have a hard time believing they can maintain a quality wipe after 2 years of road grime contamination (which is what really kills wiper blades).

great to see people are keeping these wonderful automobiles alive. A couple more weekends in the spring and I'll consider this one done, although I guess you never (want to be) done. My daughter has put in a request to find her a low mileage C70 black. Thanks to all who run this site and contribute to it.
I wouldn't have been able to perform a lot of the work I've done.

Pulled the angle gear to replace it with the one I rebuilt.
Didn't get the new one in, compared them side by side.
Found out I have been rebuilding the wrong type of angle gear! It doesn't fit.
Looks like I'll be reinstalling the old angle gear and keep running it FWD for now!
