It’s an XC AWD, think tire size is right.
They look quite skinny for 215/65-16s which iirc is the correct size.

Looks really nice otherwise. Nice climate for the cars I guess. Some work on the black plastic and it'll look like new.

After you've found the whole compression issue ofc ;-)
Yeah who knows. All I know is that they are Toyos and are brand new :)

Probably top end from a timing belt failure?
Yeah I guess. Timing belt has wear on outside, really not sure what’s going on. Belt maybe jumped a few teeth? I’m not gonna speculate very much, just pull the head off and see what’s going on.
It’s actually rare to lose comp on the whole engine? Check gauge function maybe?

Previous owner checked compression I haven’t had time to look at the car yet. Maybe this coming weekend the mystery will be revealed.

Belt is on. Saw cams turning a little when I bought it, battery was dead.

Redo compresssion test.

Last dead engine I saw I fixed by laying hands on it, sacrificing a lawyer to Eir, and surrounding it with a line of salt.

Is that a late 2001 with a Bosch throttle? These years always seem to have the larger mirrors instead of the body matched ones.

You've become an ace at resurrecting the dead kallekula !!

It's a Cross Country. They didn't have the body colored mirrors.

That may be the case in the USA. This one was mine. My friend also had a pale blue 2002 XC70 with body coloured mirrors. For towing and general driving I much prefer the larger mirrors and they are more robust against scratches.

Mike -- I think you're on to something there. Special treatment for the antipodes as far as mirrors.
